Visceral fat lies deep within the abdominal cavity and it has been linked to risk for cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and breast cancer, notes the Harvard Medical School. You cannot control the location excess fat stores itself because it is largely influenced by hereditary factors, but you can change your dietary habits to aid in overall weight loss.
