LIVESTRONG.COM ADVERTISING POLICY
It is important to the LIVESTRONG.COM team that the users of our web site understand the web site's advertising policies. When we speak of "advertising" or "advertisements," we mean all forms of advertising, sponsorships and promotions for which we are paid. Without the income we earn from advertising, LIVESTRONG.COM could not operate.
NO ENDORSEMENT
It is the policy of LIVESTRONG.COM not to endorse any of the products or services that are advertised on the web site. The content and claims made in advertising are controlled by the advertiser, not by LIVESTRONG.COM. Generally speaking, we do not make a determination about whether or not an advertiser's claims are accurate. And LIVESTRONG.COM has not evaluated the products and services advertised on our site.
Moreover, LIVESTRONG.COM does not select every advertiser or advertisement that appears on the web site-many of the advertisements are served by third party advertising companies. Each user of the LIVESTRONG.COM web site should and must make her own decisions about her health, fitness, and lifestyle and about what products or services, if any, she wishes to purchase to further her goals.
CLEAR LABELING
It is also the policy of LIVESTRONG.COM that all advertisements are clearly indicated and easily identified as advertising, and distinguished from other information on the web site. We've established guidelines on how we label advertising so that you'll know what is an advertisement and what is editorial content. You will see the following descriptors on our site for different types of advertising:
-
"Advertisement" is used to label the most common form of advertising on our site. Ads are labeled with the word "Advertisement" in the bottom right-hand corner or along the left-hand side of the advertisement.
If you click on an advertisement, it will usually link to a web site that's operated by the advertiser. We have no control over the advertiser's web site or the policies on that site.
- "Sponsored by" is used to label content when an advertiser has paid for association with an article or service, but the content or service is not editorially controlled by the advertiser. We identify this kind of advertising by clearly showing that the content or service is "Sponsored by" the advertiser.
- "Provided by" is used to identify advertorials, which are content that are created by or for advertisers for the purpose of promoting a product or service. We identify advertorials as "advertising" so that you can distinguish them from editorially independent content. You can recognize advertorials on our site by the "Provided by" label at the top of the article, and the name of the advertiser at the end of the article.
