Anterior Shoulder Exercises

What Part of the Deltoids Does the Shoulder Press Work?

The shoulder press, also known as the military press, targets the deltoid muscles, which are located in the shoulder region. The exercise specifically targets the anterior — front — deltoid, but that muscle is assisted by several others to perform the movement. The shoulder press can be done with various types of exercise equipment like dumbbells, machines and exercise bands. This exercise can also be performed in a seated or standing position.
