Even if you love your long hair, you may not always want to wear it down. If you need to look professional for a formal occasion, such as work, a business meeting or a fancy dinner, forgo the pony-tail holder and put your hair up in a jaw clip. A jaw clip opens on a spring and has interlocking pieces that hold your hair in place. Jaw clips come in a variety of shapes and interesting designs, so you're sure to find a few that match your individual style.

Step 1

Brush your hair to smooth it out and remove any tangles or knots.

Step 2

Gather your hair behind your head and pull it into a ponytail.

Step 3

Hold your hair at the base of the ponytail. With your free hand, twist your hair until the entire ponytail forms a tight coil.

Step 4

Pull the coiled ponytail up over the back of your head. Fold the end of the ponytail down and slide it under the part of the ponytail that's closest to your head. Tuck any stray hairs into the twisted ponytail.
