A spa foot treatment can be a special treat or a relaxing and soothing end to a long day. Going to a professional spa for a foot treatment can be expensive and time-consuming. However, it is possible to give yourself a pampering foot treatment in the comfort of your own home with just a few readily accessible ingredients. This allows you to enjoy an inexpensive and relaxing spa foot treatment as frequently as you wish.
Step 1
Find a container to soak your feet in. You can purchase foot baths that provide heat and bubbles, or simply use a small plastic basin. It should be deep enough to submerge both of your feet to just above the ankles.
Step 2
Fill the container with warm water and add soap. You can use soaps specially made for foot baths, or make your own by mixing 1 tbsp. of honey, 1 tbsp. of liquid soap, 2 tbsp. of almond oil and 1 tsp. of vanilla extract. You can also choose to add 1/2 cup of Epsom salts to the warm water. Soak your feet for five minutes.
Step 3
Scrub your wet feet with an exfoliating brush or scrub to remove any roughness and dead skin cells. You can make your own foot scrub by mixing 1 tbsp. of sea salt with 1 tbsp. of olive oil. Pay special attention to your heels and the areas between your toes.
Step 4
Return your feet to the foot bath and soak them for another five minutes.
Step 5
Pat your feet dry with a clean towel. Rub lotion on them while they are still damp to trap in moisture.
Step 6
Cover your feet with cotton socks. This will prevent the moisture from rubbing off of your feet, and they will be very soft when you remove the socks.
Tips and Warnings
- You may want to do your spa foot treatment in your bathroom where any messes can be easily cleaned up. If you are doing the treatment in an area with carpeting, have towels nearby to wipe up any messes. Properly clean and disinfect the equipment you used during your spa foot treatment.
- Do not give yourself a spa foot treatment if you have any open wounds, bug bites or scabs on your feet. This can cause infection.
