Members of the Navy serving on naval vessels have extremely limited storage space for their clothes. To maximize this space and keep things organized, they often roll their T-shirts and underwear using a method called the military-style roll. Adopt the technique yourself to accommodate limited storage space at home or when you're packing a suitcase for a long trip. Members of the military typically do not roll their dress shirts, which would end up wrinkled.

How to Roll T-Shirts

Step 1

Lay a T-shirt out flat with the front side up on a hard flat surface. Smooth out any wrinkles or creases with your hands.

Step 2

Fold the bottom third of the shirt to the shirt's underside. By doing this, the bottom edge of the shirt is a folded edge.

Step 3

Fold the right half of the shirt over the left half of the shirt.
