When the weather cools down, pantyhose and tights become valuable accessories -- they keep your legs warm in dresses and skirts and can even add an extra layer of insulation under pants. Unfortunately for some ladies, wearing pantyhose isn't always a pleasant experience. If you have itchy winter legs, don't fret; your problem can be solved.

If your pantyhose or tights are made of wool, you may feel itchy because you're one of the many who simply can't wear wool comfortably. For some people, wool causes itching, redness and general discomfort. Check the packaging of your tights for the materials included. If the offending pairs are made with wool, go out and buy ones that don't contain the scratchy fiber and see if that doesn't do the trick.

Washing Your Pantyhose

Sometimes itch can actually be caused by leftover debris from washing, which may irritate ladies with sensitive skin. Switch your detergent to an organic brand. When washing your tights, take care to rinse them thoroughly to remove all traces of soap.

Wear Leggings

If you've tried switching your pantyhose and washing them carefully and they still itch, ditch them for a while and switch to leggings. Leggings are comfortable, and when worn the right way can resemble a thick pair of tights. Slip on a pair under winter skirts and dresses. Finish off the look with socks and a pair of boots. This look will keep you warm, chic and most importantly, itch free.

Buy Cool Pants

Skirts and dresses aren't the only way to look feminine. Give your legs a break and wear a dressed-up pant. A flowy pair of slacks or fitted black trouser is made even more flattering when paired with a silk blouse, a pair of show-stopping high heels and dangly earrings. Purchase pants in different colors and even prints to add instant life to your wardrobe.
