Adults have no shortage of ways to ring in the new year, but once your children understand the meaning of New Year’s Eve, they are likely to want to celebrate, too. If you plan to be in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve, bring your kids. The activities are plentiful, diversified and family-friendly.

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

Celebrate the new year with music at the Woodruff Arts Center Atlanta Symphony Hall. Appropriate for all ages, you can expect the melodic sounds of Gershwin favorites.

Georgia Aquarium

The Georgia Aquarium, the largest aquarium in the South, is open 365 days a year. Known for its family-friendly atmosphere, the aquarium features attractions for all ages. The educational opportunities abound, and your children are sure to have fun as they learn about some of the world’s most exotic sea creatures.

Lawrenceville Rings

In nearby Lawrenceville, Lawrenceville Rings offers children the opportunity to experience a variety of activities. Some of them include face painting, super-sized slides, magic shows, puppetry and hay rides. A fireworks display at midnight is the evening’s culminating event.

Medieval Times

Step back in time with the Medieval Times family show. As you and your family dine, knights will perform in a two-hour jousting show in the ring below.

Piedmont Park

Piedmont Park is a Atlanta destination any day of the week, but if you make Piedmont Park your family’s choice for New Year’s Eve, look forward to kid-friendly activities and a fireworks show.

Underground Atlanta

If you head for Underground Atlanta for the annual Peach Drop event, you will find activities for all ages. Expect live performances in preparation for the 800-pound peach to descend from the 138-foot tower of lights as the clock strikes 12.

Zoo Atlanta

Hosted in its World Studio, Zoo Atlanta’s New Year’s Eve activities features free admission to a series of parties throughout the day with the purchase of a ticket and an RSVP. The events end with a ball drop once the clock counts down.
