Set amid the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in southwestern Missouri, 25,000-acre Stockton Lake and the lands that surround it provide a sprawling outdoor playground for local residents and visitors. The lake, formed by a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dam on the Sac River, has three marinas and 10 day-use areas along its shores. The area’s recreational activities include boating, fishing, hiking, hunting, picnicking, sailing and swimming. If you’re an RV camper, a handful of seasonal campgrounds around the lake can offer you sites with electricity and water. If you’d prefer full hookups plus easy access to in-town amenities, RV parks in two nearby towns should fit the bill.

Stockton Mobile Home & RV Park

Fifteen miles northwest of the lake’s northernmost shores, Stockton Mobile Home & RV Park is reserved exclusively for RVs. Its 24 pull-through sites have full hookups and can easily accommodate larger rigs. Each site has its own picnic table, and pets are welcome. Although the RV park has no on-site recreational facilities, it does have Wi-Fi and a coin laundry. The campground is typically open from mid-April to early November.

Red Cedar RV Park

Open year-round, Red Cedar RV Park caters primarily to RVs but does have a limited number of sites for tent camping. Twenty miles east of Stockton Lake in the town of Bolivar, the campground has 28 RV sites with full hookups, seven of which are pull-through. All sites have picnic tables, barbecue grills and fire rings. Other amenities include complimentary Wi-Fi, an enclosed dog run, coin laundry, covered picnic pavilion, restrooms and showers.

Stockton State Park

Stockton State Park, open year-round, sits on a finger of land that projects into Stockton Lake from its southern shores. In addition to its campground, the park features a marina, sailing school, rental cabins, swimming beach, park store, picnic areas, hiking trails, boat launch ramps, a motel and restaurant. Divided into two loops, the park campground can accommodate RVs and tents. Between them, the park’s east and west camping loops have a total of 74 paved, drive-in sites and five walk-in sites. The latter are suitable for tent camping only. Sixty of the drive-in sites have water and electric hookups and are suitable for RVs. All sites have picnic tables and barbecue grills. Campers have access to flush toilets, showers, a coin laundry, potable water and a dump station.

Corps of Engineers Campgrounds

Among the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recreation areas that line the shores of Stockton Lake, three have campsites that can accommodate RVs. All three campgrounds are open from mid-April until the end of September. Cedar Ridge Campground has 54 sites, including many with electric hookups and 12 sites reserved for tents only. The campground also has a boat ramp, fishing dock, picnic and swimming areas, a playground and showers. Crabtree Cove Campground has 58 sites, most with electricity. Among the other facilities at Crabtree Cove are boat ramps, fishing docks, picnic areas and showers. Hawker Point Campground, adjacent to equestrian trails, has picnic areas, boat ramps and showers. Most of its 62 campsites have electricity.
