Roller hockey is a popular recreational activity for many children and adults. While the rules are similar to traditional hockey, this form of the game is played outdoors on the pavement with a ball instead of a hockey puck. When learning the basics of roller hockey, it is crucial to learn how to stop, and the T-stop and power slide are two popular techniques.

T-Stop Technique

Step 1

Begin skating at normal speed.

Step 2

Keep your knees bent with both feet facing forward, then transfer your weight to the front food.

Step 3

Place you back foot behind and perpendicular to your front one to make an "L" or "T" shape.

Step 4

Push down with your back foot, creating friction. This will allow you to stop.

Power Slide Technique

Step 1

Begin skating at a medium speed and gradually increase as your technique improves.

Step 2

Lean to the inside as you make a sharp turn.

Step 3

Stretch your outside leg out, letting the skate slide but keeping it on the ground.

Step 4

Allow the inside skate to rotate to become perpendicular to the outside skate.

Step 5

Press down on the outside skate to come to a stop.
