This has been one doozy of an election season. And all that stress and worry that people have been feeling about the presidential race has also taken a pretty big toll on Americans’ sex lives.

According to New York Magazine, a new report put out by fertility app Kindara found that the election has been negatively impacting the sex lives of women all over the nation. Not too surprising, considering how we’ve been on an emotional election roller coaster this past year.

This past October, Kindara surveyed 982 American women who use the app and found that 19 percent of women who identify as Democrat and 9 percent who identify as Republican have reported the election has had a negative impact on their sex lives.

Even more surprising: When it comes to Election Day, 45 percent of Republican women and 25 percent of female Democrats said they were looking forward to having sex more than they were looking forward to voting.

Not only did Kindara point out how much the election is keeping everyone from getting it on, it’s also keeping people from having children. According to the survey, four percent of women said they wouldn’t get pregnant until they knew the results of the election.

Yet there is some heartening news in this divisive time. While most of the statistics show a greater effect on the love lives and family plans of Democrats than Republicans, the results of the survey revealed an openness to being in a relationship with someone who didn’t share the same political opinions as a partner.

According to the survey, 33 percent of Democrats and 16 percent of Republicans said that they would be open to a relationship with someone who didn’t share their political opinions. So maybe some hot Democrat-on-Republican love will set the stage for politicians to be able to cross the aisles.

Either way, at least this election is almost over. And that means we will have a new president and, perhaps more importantly, we can all get back to our normal, healthy sex lives.
