If we’ve learned anything from the tabloids over the years, it’s that stars are “just like us!” And comedian Kevin Hart and his wife Eniko Parrish are no exception. In a recent Instagram post, Hart gives us a hilarious peek into how the pair wards off the dreaded couples’ fitness rut by working out together.
The Instagram post is heavy on the humor (in classic Hart form). It shows him hitting the seated cable row pretty hard as his wife looks in a totally different direction, oblivious of his attempts to impress her with his heavy lifting. He captioned the image, “When ur trying to show off by lifting heavy in front of your wife & she forgot to pay attention 😂😂😂😂”
While their couples workout is super cute, it’s also some pretty good motivation to hit the gym with your significant other for a sweat session. Besides, who else could be a better spotter than your loved one?
Science has proven through studies that the bond between partners improves when couples train together. Psychology Today discussed a study conducted by the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology that shows that couples who work out together report feeling more satisfied with their relationship and even more in love. They also discussed a separate study that found that training together can help increase the attraction between a couple, thanks to physiological reactions like increased heart rates and sweating.
It’s never too late to start a new activity with your partner, even if you never have before. You can surprise your significant other with a new workout ensemble or pair of sneakers along with a special invitation to hike, jog or try out the newest fitness trend. After all, the couple that trains together stays together.
