Apple cider vinegar, which is made from the fermented juice of apples, is often used as a cooking ingredient. It contains vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B6, vitamin C, biotin, calcium, potassium and iron. It is also a folk remedy for many ailments, including acne and weight gain. Although there are not sufficient studies to prove all of the vinegar's healing properties, there are a number of helpful ways to use apple cider vinegar at home.
Step 1
Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with 4 ounces of water. Drink the mixture to relieve heartburn.
Step 2
Take 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar before each meal to reduce bad breath. If the taste is too strong, dilute the vinegar with water or juice.
Step 3
Mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with an 8 ounce glass of water to relieve a sore throat. Gargle one mouthful of the mixture every hour until the mixture is gone. You can also combine 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and 3 tablespoons of honey to relieve a sore throat. The apple cider vinegar will soothe your throat and kill infectious bacteria. Rinse your teeth with water afterward.
Step 4
Soak a cloth in apple cider vinegar and wrap the cloth around corns or calluses. Put plastic wrap around the cloth and leave it on overnight.
Step 5
Add apple cider vinegar to a spray bottle and spray it onto cuts, scrapes and insect bites for a disinfectant.
Step 6
Massage 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into your scalp while in the shower. Follow with a regular shampoo and conditioner. The vinegar will remove the build-up caused by hair product chemicals and also help prevent future build-up.
