Hockey goaltender pads protect the goalie from pucks flying at him at speeds of upwards of 90 miles per hour. Goalies fall onto the ice in order to stop the puck and need to have enough faith in their equipment to not think twice about putting the body in front of a shooter. In order for this to happen, the goalie must properly tie his pads.
Tying Goalie Pads
Step 1
Place the buckle on each goalie pad so that it is facing the outside.
Step 2
Position the pad on the floor in front of you and your skate flat on the ground. criss-cross the bottom lace of the pad through the bottom of your skate.
Step 3
Bring the laces up over your skate and tie them over the top of the boot.
Step 4
Kneel on the pads in the leg indentations and tie the buckles from the bottom up. The buckles should be fastened tight enough so that the pad does not move when your leg moves, but loose enough that it is not uncomfortable.
