Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser is a mild cleanser used on those with sensitive skin. "Cutis," the journal of cutaneous medicine for the practitioner, notes that Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser is effective for cleansing in patients who suffer from rosacea, and the "Indian Journal of Pediatrics" recommends Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser for the cleansing of neonates and infants' sensitive skin. Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser is an all-purpose cleanser that can improve your skin when used properly, as it leaves your skin with natural moisture and doesn't contain irritating ingredients and chemicals.

Step 1

Run your tap so that it is at a comfortable temperature for your face. When washing your face, you should use warm water to help gently open your pores for a more thorough washing. Test the water with your elbow before splashing it on your face.

Step 2

Dampen your face with water by splashing it on your face, or use a moistened washcloth to get your face wet. Pump a quarter-sized amount of Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser into your hands, and rub it together in your hands to distribute it.

Step 3

Apply the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser to your face by rubbing your hands on your cheeks, forehead, nose and chin in circular motions. It's important to note that unlike Cetaphil Daily Cleanser, Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser does not lather. Instead it stays a creamy consistency, which may seem unusual for someone who is used to using a foamy cleanser.

Step 4

Massage the cleanser on your face for at least 30 seconds. Splash warm water on your face to remove the excess, or wipe it away with a damp towel. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser can also be used as a moisturizer, so you can leave a small amount of it on your skin if your skin is particularly dry. According to the Cetaphil website, Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is non-comedogenic, which means it won't clog pores and cause breakouts.

Step 5

Use Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser each morning and night as part of your daily skin care regimen to remove makeup, dirt and oil. Unlike other cleansers, Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser will not irritate your skin or upset your skin's natural pH balance, so it is safe to use as often as you'd like. Pair the cleanser with Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer for drier skin.
