A learning disability is a neurological disorder that affects one or more psychological processes involved in using or processing language. Dyscalculia specifically interferes with the ability to perform mathematical calculations. The condition affects about 6 percent of U.S. children, according to the website SEN Teacher. Those with dyscalculia may have trouble understanding numbers, problems with visual spatial relationships or difficulty processing language.
