Epsom Salt, or magnesium sulfate, has been used for hundreds of years to help soothe aching muscles and remove toxins from the body. Epsom Salt can also help relieve stress by soaking in a salt water bath, treat skin problems and treat the common cold. Compounds found in Epsom Salt can help treat constipation as well.

Epsom Salt helps increase the amount of magnesium in the body, resulting in an increase in the amount of serotonin produced by the brain. This increase in serotonin creates a feeling of relaxation and well-being. The additional magnesium also boosts energy and endurance levels by helping the body produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP) at a cellular level. These chemical benefits have a cumulative result of lowering blood pressure, increasing relaxation and improving sleep.

By soaking your body in a few cups of salts for 10 to 20 minutes, you flush toxins from the body, eliminate harmful substances and ease muscle pain. An Epson salt bath has also been widely used to help ease foot pain and to soften the skin of the feet.

An Epsom Salt bath can also help trigger reverse osmosis by pulling salt and harmful toxins out of the body. Use two cups of Epsom Salt in a bath as a detoxifying agent.
