Getting rid of flabby arms is a two-pronged process. First, you have to reduce your overall body fat levels through cardiovascular conditioning. Then you have to perform exercises that firm the muscles of the arms, so they will appear toned once you cut down your overall fat percentage. Although you can get visible results by choosing only one of these arm-fat busters, the best approach focuses on both areas.

Cardiovascular Exercise

To burn the fat off your arms, you have to perform regular cardiovascular workouts. Your cardio can consist of swimming, running, biking or any other activity that raises your heart rate. Critical Bench suggests that you build up to at least 30 minutes of cardio exercise a minimum of five times a week for best results.

Shoulder Presses

"Fitness" suggests shoulder presses performed with dumbbells to firm your triceps and help prevent underarm flab. In this exercise, you can stand with your feet at hips' distance apart. Then lift the dumbbells over your head and return your arms to shoulder height so that your elbows are at 90-degree angles. Repeat this movement 8 to 12 times.

Triceps Dips

Bodybuilding.com recommends the triceps dip to tone your upper arms. This exercise is performed with a bench or a stable chair. With the bench behind your back, support your weight by putting your arms on it, placing your feet straight out in front of you. Then bend your elbows and lower your body so your butt almost touches the floor, and lift yourself back up. This motion works the muscles on the backs of your arms. For best results, do three reps of 10 lifts each.

Bicep Curls

Bicep curls are an easy way to tone the fronts of your arms. Like the shoulder press, you start this exercise standing, with your legs hip-distance apart. With a dumbbell in each hand and your palms facing forward, raise one forearm by bending your elbow so the weight come closer to your chest. Lower the dumbbell and repeat the movement 8 to 12 times on each side.
