1. Avoid Cutting or Irritating Your Face
Pay careful attention when shaving or applying harsh chemicals to your face in order to avoid nicks and cuts. The HPV virus and facial warts easily grow in injured or moist areas. Also, avoid irritation with depilatory creams or gels. These products can cause skin rashes or burns that provide an environment in which the HPV virus can replicate and cause warts to grow.
2. Clean and Disinfect Cuts on the Face
It is important that you clean and disinfect any cuts or scrapes on your face immediately to prevent HPV infection and facial warts. By using a mild soap and disinfectant, such as hydrogen peroxide, you can reduce your risk of contracting the virus. Covering your cut with a bandage or cotton gauze can also help in preventing HPV or warts.
3. Avoid Touching Your Face Without Washing Your Hands
HPV and warts are spread by direct contact with the virus and from individual to individual. As such, it is smart to wash your hands thoroughly before touching your face, especially after being in a public place. If you need to touch your face for some reason and cannot wash your hands, use hand sanitizer prior to touching your face to avoid transmission of viruses or infections. Otherwise, touch your face with a clean tissue instead.
4. Don't Irritate Body Areas That Have Warts
To avoid spreading warts to other parts of your body, do not shave areas near them. Avoid biting your fingernails, and do not pick at your warts. It is necessary to wash your hands immediately after you have treated or touched a wart to avoid spreading the virus to other areas of your body or to other individuals. Also, dry your hands thoroughly because the HPV virus and warts replicate and grow in moist environments.
