Acne is a disorder of the sebaceous glands and hair follicles. It occurs when the sebaceous glands produce too much sebum, an oily substance that moisturizes the skin. Excess sebum can clog the hair follicles, which may become inflamed and rupture into lesions. These lesions can become scars in severe cases if they don't heal properly. You can improve the appearance of acne marks with natural substances that imitate the effects of medical treatments for acne.
Step 1
Perform a chemical peel with honey. Spread the honey in a very thin layer over the acne marks and wait for it to dry. Remove the honey by gently rinsing it with a mild soap in warm water. Manuka money is a good choice for this treatment because it's made from the flowers of the manuka bush. This gives the honey greater antibacterial properties than other types of honey.
Step 2
Treat acne marks with lemon juice. Mix the lemon juice from one lemon with a cup of water. Soak a clean washcloth in this mixture and hold it to your acne marks for a few minutes each day. The citric acid in the lemon juice can remove the older skin cells on the surface of your skin, exposing the newer skin cells underneath.
Step 3
Help your skin repair scar tissue faster with vitamin E. You can buy vitamin E in capsule form from a supermarket or pharmacy. Break open one of the capsules and rub its contents into the acne scar once per day. Many moisturizing creams contain vitamin E for this purpose.
Step 4
Soften acne scars with a natural emollient that moisturizes the skin. Olive oil is a good natural emollient that is relatively inexpensive and widely available. Olive oil has little risk of side effects so you can use it liberally throughout the day.
