American Lifestyle is a distributor that sells beauty products, diet and weight loss aids, bodybuilding and exercise supplements, acne medicine and diabetic products, as well as a slew of other health-related items. They sell directly to consumers and through online partnerships with businesses and individuals worldwide. Through a vast network of suppliers and online website hosts, the company sells the product lines to buyers worldwide.

History

The company was formed in 1987 in a suburb of Rochester, New York, called Pittsford. American Lifestyle is a New York State "C" corporation, which has stockholders and pays dividends. American Lifestyle is licensed as an Export Trading Corporation. They began the switch from being primarily an export company to an Internet-based reseller in 1998 and by 2010, Internet web sales had reached customers in 88 other countries, speaking 16 different languages. Only 5 percent of the company's sales are through bulk shipments. American Lifestyle is a promoter of products made in the United States and caters to a clientele that prefers U.S. brands.

Features

By far, the biggest category of sales for the company is the diet and weight loss products they market. Products are available in capsules, powders, creams and potions. While some products cannot by law be sold in the United States, they originate stateside, such as those containing Ephedra, and find willing customers in other areas of the world.

Function

For a flat upfront fee, American Lifestyle features a company's product on its website. Lifestyle editors create the sales pitch attached to the product. Additional products can be added for an extra charge. As sales are generated, American Lifestyle orders from the supplier and ships to the customers. In lieu of upfront fees, manufacturers can sell products directly to American Lifestyle at a reduced wholesale cost.

Potential

American Lifestyle recruits marketing partners to run websites for the company, selling their products through individual marketing programs. Individuals can sign up to host a site, and the company provides the site and processes all the orders. American Lifestyle reports that market partners can make up to $50,000 per year and more in commissions by finding new and innovative products.

Warnings

American Lifestyle clearly spells out U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warnings and approvals through their product descriptions. They will not ship products that are illegal in the United States to any address within U.S. borders. Descriptions of beauty and other health products not regulated by the FDA are clearly identified.
