Derma-e Skin Lighten Natural Fade and Age Spot Creme is a type of over-the-counter product used to reduce the appearance of age spots. Age spots are discoloration on the skin that occurs when an overproduction of pigment is caused by sun exposure. Age spots are harmless, but for cosmetic reasons, you may want them removed. You can purchase the fade cream at most retail pharmacies and beauty supply stores. The product is distributed in 2 oz. containers.

Features

The age spot cream from Derma-e contains all-natural ingredients to lighten the skin. Instead of bleach or hydroquinone, which are common ingredients in age spot creams, the product contains ginseng, licorice, milk thistle and green tea. Other ingredients found in the cream are vitamins A, D and E, stearic acid, and alcohol.

Prevention/Solution

To treat age spots, the manufacturer recommends that the cream be applied twice a day. In the morning, wash your face and dry it. Massage the cream in a thin layer over the area that you wish to lighten. Apply any skin care products and makeup once the cream has been absorbed into the skin. Repeat application at night after you have washed off any makeup and dried your skin.

Effects

Derma-e explains that the Skin Lighten Natural Fade and Age Spot Creme cures age spots by slowing down the production of melanin. The melanin that does exist in the area is dispersed due to the application of the cream. However, it is important to keep in mind that the claims made by the manufacturer have not been evaluated for validity through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Time Frame

The age spots will not be removed overnight with the use of the lightening cream. It takes a minimum of three to four weeks for results to be noticeable. Optimal results may not be achieved for several months since the cream must penetrate the layers of the skin to work.

Considerations

Since the cream works as a lightener, it is not appropriate for all skin tones. Individuals with darker spots and lighter skin tones are good candidates for the product. If you have darker skin tones with discolored areas, speak to your dermatologist about appropriate treatments for the condition.
