The heel flip is basically the opposite of the kick flip. In a kick flip, you first execute an ollie. When the board is in the air, you flick the inside edge with your toe to spin the board on its axis 360 degrees toward you. In a heel flip, you flick the outside edge of your board with your heel to spin the board 360 degrees away from you. This trick requires a bit more air, control and practice than the kick flip.
Step 1
Put your front foot behind the front wheel bolts with your heel pressing on the outside edge of the skateboard. Position your back foot on the board's tail.
Step 2
Roll forward while bending your knees, then spring up while kicking the tail of the board down to do an ollie. Use the friction between the grip tape on the board deck and your feet to lift the board into the air.
Step 3
Pick your back foot up off the deck of the board when it becomes airborne. Flick the front outside edge of the skateboard downward with the heel of your front foot to spin the skateboard in the air outward.
Step 4
Allow the board to spin a full 360 degrees. Reposition your feet on the skateboard while still in the air. The front foot should be forward of center and the back foot should be on the tail.
Step 5
Land all four wheels with your bent knees to absorb the landing impact and to steady yourself and continue to roll.
