1. Gather the Appropriate Materials
Make a list of the items you'll need in order to do a coffee colonic treatment. To gain the benefits of cleansing your colon and detoxifying your liver, you will need to buy organic, fully caffeinated coffee grinds. Most supermarkets carry organic coffee in their natural food sections. Pick up an enema bag and colon tube at your local drugstore, as well as a lubricant to use with the tubing like petroleum jelly. Some pharmacies stock their enema kits behind the counter, so ask for one if you don't find the equipment you need on the open shelves. You will need at least 2 qts. of filtered water for the coffee colonic.
2. Prepare the Coffee
It's important to prepare the coffee for your colon cleansing very precisely to avoid burning yourself or harming yourself with a solution that is too strong. Use a pot on the stove rather than a coffee maker. Heat 1 qt. of water until it boils and then take it off the burner as soon as it starts to bubble. Stir 4 tbsps. of the organic coffee into the boiled water and let it brew while it cools down to about 115 degrees F. Fill the enema bag with 1 qt. of warm water (about 100 degrees F) and add some of the coffee mixture. You can control the strength of the enema solution by adding anywhere from a few tbsps. up to 1/2 cup of the coffee. Make sure the clamp that connects the tubing to the enema bag is closed before you add the liquids to the bag.
3. Administer the Enema
Hang the enema bag above you or have your partner hold it above your head. Put some petroleum jelly on the colon tube and insert it slowly into your rectum. This is easiest if you are lying on your side. Don't force the tube in any further than it will go smoothly or you may hurt yourself.
Administer the coffee enema gradually by opening the clamp to let the liquid down and into your body, over the space of about 10 to 15 minutes. Keep the solution in for 20 minutes, if possible. The water and coffee solution can help stimulate bile production that can flush toxins from your body. When you are finished with the enema, gently take the tubing out and eliminate the solution in the toilet.
