Your facial skin is bombarded by innumerable pollutants on a daily basis. Cigarette smoke, smog, allergens and chemicals from the products you use and the foods you eat can affect your skin. These toxins can make your skin appear rough, dry and wrinkled. The natural aging process can also affect your complexion. Fortunately, you don't have to spend a fortune at a salon to get the soft and clear facial skin you want.
Step 1
Exfoliate your face daily, using a facial loofah sponge or similar sponge. A loofah sponge can help slough off the surface layer of your skin which contains dead skin cells. This allows the production of new skin cells to grow and maximize your skin's ability to absorb moisture. There are innumerable exfoliating creams available. Consult the pharmacist in the drugstore or supermarket to help you choose the best exfoliating cream for your skin type.
Step 2
Apply a good moisturizing cream or lotion to your face. Moisturizers help rehydrate your skin to keep it nourished, clearer, and softer. Avoid moisturizers that contain alcohol since they can irritate and dry your skin. Instead, use moisturizers with natural ingredients. You can find good, relatively inexpensive moisturizing lotions at your nearest health food store. Apply the moisturizing lotion twice a day, especially after exfoliating.
Step 3
Use a high-quality facial mask twice a week. Masks help clean your pores, while making your facial skin soft, clean and smooth. Masks also reduce blackheads and blemishes and help to moisturize your skin.
Step 4
Consult a dermatologist if you notice you have a lot of pimples or prolonged facial skin reddening. A dermatologist will properly assess your skin and give the appropriate treatment to eliminate these common skin conditions.
