Graco infant car seats are available online and at several retail stores. Graco car seats are popular because they are reasonably priced, have choices of different colors and patterns to fit various lifestyles, and have good safety standards. Infant car seats protect babies from serious injury or death in car crashes. Ensuring that the restraints are properly installed and secured increases an infant's safety during travel.
Step 1
Choose where to position the car seat in the vehicle. Placing the car seat in the middle position in the back seat is the preferred option. However, some choose to place the car seat directly behind the driver's side seat. The Graco infant car seat should always face the rear for safety, and should never be positioned opposite an air bag to prevent suffocation when activated.
Step 2
Lift the infant restraint from the security base by squeezing the lever at the rear of the seat. Set car seat aside.
Step 3
Install the security base first. Place the base in the car facing the rear. Thread shoulder and lap belts through the openings found on the security base. Pull belts to remove slack and make sure that both belts are laying flat against the base and not twisted.
Step 4
Clip the seat belt buckle. Secure the shoulder and lap belts together at the buckle with the metal locking clip included with the car seat. This clip should be placed close to--and rest just above--the seat belt buckle.
Step 5
Push and pull on the base to ensure that it is stable. It should not slide sideways, backward or forward.
Step 6
Place the carrier back in the base by pushing on the rear of the seat and locking into position. Make sure a "click" is heard when locking into place.
