Breasts are filled with fatty tissue and milk ducts that get bigger when you are pregnant or gain weight. The skin stretches over the breasts to accommodate the excess fat, report doctors at the Mayo Clinic. While gaining weight is one way to enlarge breasts, there is no way to add fat to the breasts without adding fat everywhere else on the body as well. Instead, use breast enlargement exercises and equipment to build up the pectoral and chest muscles, which will hold up the fatty tissue and make breasts look bigger and firmer.

Free Weights

In addition to working the arms, back, abdomen and oblique side muscles, free weights are exercise tools that are useful for building pectoral and chest muscles to lift breasts and make them appear larger. Free weights come in a variety of sizes and are easy to use and store. To avoid injury using the free weights, or dumbbells, start with lighter weights. One-pound weights should be used to perform chest-building exercises for three sets of 12 repetitions. When the workout becomes effortless, increase the size of the weights. Free weights also come in sizes ranging from three pounds to 50 pounds and more. Women do well with 10-pound weights after building up their strength. The free weights can be utilized for exercising lying down or standing.

Pec Fly Machine

The pec fly machine, also known as the pec deck, is mostly seen in gyms and fitness centers. You sit on a bench and place your arms behind padded bars that are connected to weights. As with the free weights, start out with light weight, gradually increasing the load as each level becomes too easy. Rest your arms behind the padded bars with fingers pointed up toward the ceiling and press the padded bars until your arms nearly meet in front of your chest.

Body Weight

Your own body weight is one of the best tools available for increasing breast size, report doctors at the Plastic Surgery Network. Barring breast enlargement surgery, simple exercises utilizing your own body for resistance are the least expensive and most effective forms of exercise to improve the appearance of breasts. Push-ups are the easiest and most popular forms of body-resistant breast enlargement exercises. Full-body or modified push-ups with knees on the floor are equally effective. When doing push-ups, concentrate on feeling the tightening in the pecs and chest area to make sure you are getting the most from your workout. Adjust placement of the hands on the floor to maximize the pressure on the chest.

Stability Ball

A stability ball is a tool that can be incorporated in other exercises to maximize the effectiveness of the workout. By performing modified push-ups on the stability ball, you include more chest muscles in order to remain stable on the ball while doing the routines. A stability, or fitness, ball also can increase the intensity of free weight workouts when you lie on your back on the ball to lift the weights.
