Natural Home Remedy for Removing Dark Marks on the Skin

Dark marks on the skin are generally the result of prolonged and repeated exposure to the sun. They're typically larger than freckles and have a flat surface. Dark marks are most common on areas of the skin that receive the most sunlight, such as the face and hands. You can frequently treat dark marks with home remedies from commonly available materials. Dark marks usually aren't harmful, but you should consult a dermatologist if their appearance changes or they become painful.

Step 1

Slice open a fresh lemon. Squeeze the juice into a small container. Dip a cotton swab into the lemon juice and apply it to your dark spots. Allow the lemon juice to remain on your dark spots for up to 15 minutes each day.

Step 2

Rub aloe vera gel on your dark spots. You can obtain pure aloe vera gel from the leaves of a mature aloe vera plant. You can also buy aloe vera gel from a grocery store or beauty supply store. Apply the aloe vera gel with your fingertips twice a day.

Step 3

Place 1 tsp. of borax and 2 tsp. of glycerin in a small container. Add 6 oz. of water and stir the mixture thoroughly. Cover the mixture and allow it to stand for 24 hours. Stir the mixture again and allow it to stand for another 24 hours. Apply this mixture to your dark spots with a cotton swab. Borax is available from stores that sell household and gardening supplies. You can buy glycerin in pharmacies and health food stores.

Step 4

Pick a handful of leaves from dandelion plants. Place the leaves in a blender and add two ice cubes. Liquefy the dandelion leaves and ice in the blender and strain the liquid. Apply this mixture to your age spots and allow it to dry. Wash the mixture of dandelion leaves off your skin with soap and warm water.
