The human brain is a powerful entity. Human engineering has given the world pyramids, great art, extensive computer technology, medical miracles and a record of exploring the universe beyond planet earth. Yet the average person does relatively little in exploring the awesome power of the mind. Most individuals fail to realize the incredible capabilities of their own brains. Realize the power of your fabulous mind with help from some brain exercises.
Step 1
Work puzzles to sharpen your mental skills. Buy a book of logic and word games and work a couple each day. In addition, you can put together a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle to give your brain a workout.
Step 2
Do things in reverse to get a new perceptive and challenge your mind. Carefully walk down the stairs backwards or write with your non-dominant hand. You'll be surprised at how much you will need to concentrate.
Step 3
Take music lessons or learn a foreign language. This will get your mind focused in a whole new way, thereby increasing the power of your mind.
Step 4
Test your memory frequently. Practice remembering names from a convention, lists of random items or the authors' names of famous books. Your memory will strengthen over time, allowing your mind to function at a high level.
Step 5
Obscure one of your senses while you exercise the others. You can blindfold yourself and then attempt to walk through the rooms of your house or mute your television and try to figure out what is going on in a television show simply by watching.
Step 6
Brainstorm more than one solution to every problem you encounter. For instance, if you want to ask your boss for a raise, come up with several different approaches before delivering your actual pitch.
Step 7
Upset your routine to get your brain going. Humans are creatures of habit, so when they must make changes, they have to really think about it. Travel a different way to work, eat dinner at a different time and spend evenings doing something new.
Tips and Warnings
- Have a cocktail party in which you invite those who you know will challenge you intellectually. Think ahead for some possible topics of discussion.
- Cut out junk food because it may dull your brain because of the high content of fat and chemicals.
