Many weight loss supplements claim that they will help you lose a lot of weight with little to no effort. These supplements, however, are highly unlikely to help you lose weight and keep it off in the long run. Natural weight loss involves making a lifestyle change that includes eating healthy and exercising. Your natural weight loss program should include a weight loss goal of up to 2 lbs. per week, which is considered a safe weight loss rate by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Drink Water
Soft drinks and other sugary drinks aren't good for weight loss. These beverages contain empty calories that offer little nutritional value, according to the American Academy of Family Physicians. Instead of drinking these beverages, drink water, which will help your body stay hydrated. When your body is hydrated, it will function properly. Water contains no calories, so by drinking water, you have more calories to include in your diet. By doing this, you can eat more foods that contain the nutrients you need.
Pay Attention to Your Plate
When you are making your plate at each meal, fill half of your plate with vegetables and then move on to filling the rest of your plate with the remaining foods available. When you eat, start with the vegetables and then move on. Vegetables are nutrient-rich foods that can help you to get full faster and stay full longer. You can also use child-size plates and utensils to help you reduce the risk of overeating caused by larger-than-normal portion sizes.
Eat Breakfast
When you eat breakfast, you are less likely to overeat later in the day, according to the Mayo Clinic. When you eat a healthy breakfast, you are more likely to follow your diet program throughout the day. You will have increased energy to exercise. Choose whole grain cereal, fruit and low-fat dairy products for your breakfast.
Plan to Exercise
To lose weight, you must expend more calories each day than you take in. Exercising for 60 to 90 minutes daily is one way to burn calories. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends doing moderate level intensity exercises. This means that you can carry on a conversation while exercising but you are sweating and have an increased heart rate. To get your exercise in, plan short exercise sessions each day, such as four to six sessions that last 15 minutes each.
Make Exercise Fun
Exercising doesn't have to be boring. To get in your exercise when you are busy, you can take a walk on your breaks at work or take a walk around a park when you aren't working. You can find a biking or hiking trail in your area and enjoy the scenery while you exercise. Take a dog for a walk around your neighborhood--if you don't have a dog, ask a neighbor if you can walk his. If you need to work out inside, you can dance, do jumping jacks or walk in place during television commercials.
