Skateboarding is a much a sense of style as it is a sport and skateboard decks feature graphic art that is expressive and creative. Many skateboarders choose decks with artwork that allow them to express their individuality. These skateboard decks can not only be ridden, but can also be mounted on walls as a form of art. While special mounts made of either plastic or wood are available, they are not totally necessary. A simple mounting system can be created with a couple of self-anchoring Mollie bolts, some picture frame wire, a couple of bolts and nuts and some simple tools.

Step 1

Remove the skateboard's trucks. Determine the location on the wall where you want to mount the skateboard by placing the board up against the wall and making a small mark with the pencil at the top, bottom and sides of the skateboard deck. Remove the deck and set it aside.

Step 2

Locate a place for two holes about 12 inches apart within the area defined by the pencil marks. Drill a hole in each location.

Step 3

Insert a Mollie bolt into one of the holes. Use the screwdriver to tighten the Mollie bolt until it is firmly secured to the wall. Back the bolt head out about 1/4 inch. Repeat this step with the other hole.

Step 4

Cut a length of picture frame wire that is about two inches longer than the distance between the holes in the wall. Make a loop on one end of the wire and twist the wire so the loop will not come loose under pressure. Repeat this step on the other end of the wire.

Step 5

Insert a bolt through one of the bolt holes in the skateboard deck from the artwork side so that the bolt is protruding on the grip tape side. Slip one of the wire loops and a washer onto the bolt and thread on a nut. Tighten the nut down onto the wire and the washer. Repeat this step with one of the other holes on the board.

Step 6

Hang the wire on the heads of the Mollie bolts to hold the skateboard deck to the wall. Align the skateboard as desired.
