The article "Monounsaturated Fat-Rich Diet Prevents Central Body Fat Distribution," published in the March 2007 edition of the "Journal of Diabetes Care," prompted an onslaught of "Lose Your Belly Fat" diets. Many of these new diets target men who want to lose their love handles. Although following a diet specific to losing belly fat is beneficial for getting the waist size of your dreams, Dr. Michael Jensen suggests in his article "Belly Fat in Men: Why Weight Loss Matters" that men should lose belly fat to help decrease their risks of heart disease, stroke, cancer, Type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea.

Flat Belly Diet for Men

The "Flat Belly Diet for Men," by Liz Vaccariello and D. Milton Stokes, focuses on eating small amounts of monounsaturated fats (MUFAs) with every meal. Based on a study published in the "Journal of Diabetes Care," Vaccariello suggests eating a small serving of avocado, oil, nuts, seeds, olives or dark chocolate with every meal to help reduce belly fat. This diet features a special water just for the guys and mouthwatering meals that fill you up and boost your energy.

The Abs Diet

David Zinczenko's "Abs Diet" promises that if you follow his plan, you will transform your body and enjoy improved health, looks, athletic performance and sexual appeal. The basics of "The Abs Diet" are to avoid sugar and processed foods, balance protein with carbohydrates and exercise regularly. Zinczenko recommends eating smaller meals throughout the day and drinking plenty of water to help decrease belly fat.

Belly Off Diet

The "Belly Off Diet" by Jeff Csatari claims that it holds the secret to belly weight loss for men. This diet starts with a seven-day quick start, a no-gym workout plan, a one-month program to get belly fat off and a maintenance program to keep it off. The basics of the program are eating smaller meals more frequently; eating more whole grains; avoiding sugars, processed foods and drinks; and exercising regularly.
