Wrinkles around the mouth are a common dermatological complaint of numerous individuals. These wrinkles can make you look old, especially if they are deep and numerous. As you get older, your skin elasticity and facial fat diminish, causing wrinkles to appear, especially around the eyes and mouth. Prolonged sun exposure, an unhealthy diet and lifestyle can also cause wrinkles to form. Luckily, you have many options to eliminate wrinkles around your mouth.

Step 1

Apply a good exfoliating cream or serum around the mouth areas affected by wrinkles. Make sure to look for a cream with glycolic acid. Exfoliating creams work by gently hydrating and exfoliating the skin surrounding your mouth to lift and firm it. When used as instructed, these serums can eliminate the wrinkles around your mouth in about three to four months.

Step 2

Consult a dermatologist or plastic surgeon to get Botox injections to remove the wrinkles around your mouth. The dermatologist will carefully inject a small amount of inactivated botulinum toxin to paralyze the affected skin, thereby smoothing out the wrinkles. The effects are seen immediately and can last up to ten months. You will need to return to the dermatologist when you notice the reappearance of wrinkles.

Step 3

Consult a dermatologist and undergo laser surfacing to eliminate wrinkles around the mouth. The dermatologist will use a carbon dioxide laser to precisely disintegrate wrinkled skin, layer by layer. The skin around your mouth will heal in about one to two weeks after the procedure. The results of laser surfacing are not permanent, and you will need to return in three to four years for more sessions.

Step 4

Apply sunblock lotion around your mouth and your entire face one hour before going outdoors. Applying sunblock will prevent new wrinkles from developing while moisturizing existing ones. Use sunblock with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or above.

Things You'll Need
