Drills in any type of sport can be long, boring and tedious. However, if fun drills are incorporated into daily practices, learning the skills of any sport will seem easier and more exciting. Exciting volleyball drills give players a break from the everyday drills, and allow them to have a fun time learning the techniques and developing teamwork.

Shuttle Passing

Split players into two groups, one on each side of the net on the 10-foot line. One person should toss the ball over the net and the receiver will pass it back. The object of the drill is to control the ball and to keep the ball below the net's antennae. Following a pass, the player should retreat to the back of the line. For a harder exercise, the players should run underneath the net to the opposite line after a pass. Once the player completes a pass on the opposite line, she returns to the other line.

Queen of the Court

Split players into groups of three or four and have them compete against each other. The teams can either serve or have balls tossed freely into the court. The group with the most wins will not have the same type of consequence as the losers, such as four sprints for the losers compared to two sprints for the winners.

Two Pile

Begin with two players. One will lie on top of the other, and the coach will slap the ball and toss it high into the playing area. Once the players hear the slap, they will unpile. The player on the bottom will run to the ball to make a pass to his partner. The partner will set to the passer, and the passer will spike the ball.

Hitting Around a Team Block

Five or six blockers are required for this drill. The blockers will be on one side of the net, and a passer and a setter will be on the other side. The setter will set to the hitter, and the hitter will attempt to hit through the blockers or around the blockers. The hitter is not allowed to hit over the blockers or tip over the blockers.
