The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) reports that milk and wheat are two of the eight foods that comprise 90 percent of food allergies in children. And there's a chance children won't outgrow those allergies. For instance, FAAN reports that at age 16, 21 percent of children still had milk allergies. But even with an allergy, there's no reason your child can't enjoy tasty and healthy snacks.

Milk Substitutes

There are many beverages available that can substitute for milk. Many substitutes are fortified with calcium and vitamin D, to give your child the important nutrients in milk. Substitutes that are safe for milk allergies and wheat allergies, according to Enabling.org, include some soy milks, almond milk and rice milk. The substitutes are available in plain, sweetened and flavored forms. Check labels because not all substitutes in these categories are wheat free.

Fruits and Vegetables

Not all kids like to eat healthy fruits and vegetables, but drying them out makes them that much sweeter. Dried apples, pears, apricots, pineapple and bananas make a healthy snack when mixed with flaked coconut or cut-up licorice. Raw carrots are more palatable when dipped in honey or hummus.

Corn Tortillas

Slather some all-natural peanut butter on a corn tortilla and wrap it up. Or melt some soy cheese and tomato sauce for a wheat and milk-free pizza. Scramble an egg with some water and wrap a grilled tortilla around it. Corn tortillas can also be toasted in olive oil and used as dippers for salsa.
