Pinworms are small white worms that infest the intestinal tract of humans. Female pinworms lay eggs in the skin folds of the anus, causing itching and irritation in some patients. Pinworms can be transferred from one person to another through improper hand-washing after restroom trips and are more common in school-age children, according to the Mayo Clinic. Certain herbs can help rid your body of these parasites. Such remedies involve naturopathic medicine, which promotes a holistic approach to health with minimal use of surgeries and drugs. Please consult your physician before attempting naturopathic remedies at home.

Step 1

Eat 1 oz. of pumpkin seeds per day until symptoms are gone. Pumpkin seeds and extract paralyze the pinworms and help your body expel them. Adding ginger root to your pumpkin seed consumption may speed up the process.

Step 2

Brew a tea using epazote, also known as wormseed. You can find it in health food stores. Concentrated forms of epazote are extremely potent; it's best to use nonconcentrated forms of this herb.

Step 3

Add garlic to carrot juice or take a garlic supplement. Garlic provides an unsupportive environment for pinworms to live, so they evacuate the intestinal tract on their own. Juice three cloves of garlic with 4 to 6 oz. of carrot juice and drink the mixture every two hours, suggests naturopath Chris Deatheridge, N.D., a Missouri herbalist, in The Green Pharmacy Herbal Handbook.

Step 4

Brew a tea from cloves and drink it several times daily. Cloves are an effective treatment against many parasites, including pinworms. They stimulates expulsion of parasites from the body through the intestinal tract.

Step 5

Consume dishes made with turmeric. Turmeric, an herb used to spice curry dishes, contains substances that kill and expel intestinal parasites such as pinworms.
