Wrinkles appear on your face for a variety of reasons. Repeated facial expressions like, squinting, laughing or frowning can cause wrinkles. Too much sunlight, smoking and getting older can also make wrinkles appear on your face. There are treatments that can reduce or eliminate wrinkles on your face. Some wrinkle treatments are not recommended for certain individuals based on skin color and health status. Therefore, consult a qualified physician or dermatologist to determine which treatment is right for you.
Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion is a procedure that involves the use of a rapidly rotating abrasive brush. During this treatment, the top layer of your skin is sanded or scraped off with this device. This procedure removes the top layer of your skin so that new skin can develop. The after effects of this procedure last a few weeks and they are: swelling, redness and scab formation. According to the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, dermabrasion was initially developed to treat acne scars and other types of scars but today is also used in the treatment of several other skin problems including wrinkles.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are used to treat several skin problems including facial wrinkles. According to the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, chemical peels are often used to treat fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth. They can also reduce or eliminate wrinkles caused by aging, sun damage and hereditary factors. During a chemical peel, a chemical solution is applied to your face and then removed after a certain interval. The chemical solution burns off the top layer of your skin to allow the growth of newer less wrinkled skin.
Soft Tissue Fillers
Collagen, fat and hyaluronic acid are types of soft tissue fillers used to treat facial wrinkles. According to Mayo Clinic, they can be injected into the deeper wrinkles in your face. Injection of soft tissue fillers into the wrinkles on your face smoothes and plumps out facial wrinkles. After effects of this treatment include bruising, swelling and redness at the injection site. You may need to get more soft tissue filler injections to maintain a wrinkle-free face.
Botulinum Toxin A or Botox
Botox is a bacterial toxin that is used for beauty treatments. It is available as an injection and is injected into wrinkles in small doses. Botox smoothes out wrinkles by relaxing the muscles required to hold those wrinkles in place. The relaxation comes about through temporary paralysis of facial muscles that cause the wrinkles. When the muscles are relaxed, the result is a smooth, less wrinkled face. Botox works well on crow's feet, frown lines and forehead lines. To maintain a wrinkle-free face, you may need repeat Botox injections as the initial treatment lasts only three to four months.
