A corn tortilla chip is a piece of a tortilla baked or fried in oil. Commercial producers first made them during the 1940s, and corn tortilla chips are now widely available in supermarkets. The primary ingredients of a corn tortilla chip are corn flour, vegetable oil and salt. The chips are generally high in fat and salt.
