Sperm Donor Process

Sperm donors are required in a variety of situations to assist an individual or a couple in achieving their dream of having a child. Each center has its own policies to accept only healthy sperm, free of disease or defect.

Age Requirement

Men must fall between the age ranges of 18 to 44 to be considered as a sperm donor.

Physical Exam

Prior to becoming a sperm donor, men are given a full physical exam by a physician to verify his health and discuss past medical and family history. Blood work will be drawn as well to check for health and genetic problems.

Sperm Samples

Samples are collected from potential sperm donors to check sperm count as well as the health and movement of the sperm. Samples are tested for sexually transmitted diseases and frozen to determine their ability to survive.

Consent

All sperm donors are required to sign a consent form, giving the sperm bank permission to use the sample for donation.

Donation

After being approved as a sperm donor, men are allowed to donate as many times per month as the facility allows. Donors may be compensated.
