5 Things You Need to Know About Dissolving Scar Tissue

1. Scars Are Designed to Heal

While they're unattractive and sometimes harmful or painful, the body manufactures scars to help the body heal. Scar tissue may be visible on the body or hidden inside, and the appearance and pattern of development help categorize scar tissue. Varieties of scars include keloid scars and hypertrophic scars. Anytime the body undergoes surgery, scar tissue may develop. Other causes of scar tissue include infection, injury or inflammation in tissue. Some types of scars like keloid scars are abnormal. To treat scars, doctors may recommend surgery, cryotherapy or steroid injections.

2. Target the Scar

Methysulfonylmethane, commonly called MSM or sulfonyl sulfur, occurs naturally in plant and animal tissue. When you ingest it, your body directs MSM to the areas that need it the most nutritionally. Using an MSM lotion allows you to place MSM directly on external scars or in areas like the wrist where scar tissue develops. The body absorbs MSM in the area with scar tissue rather than dispersing it throughout the body. In addition, natural ingredients like almond, apricots, aloe vera and jojoba soften and smooth skin while nourishing it.

3. Free Your Organs

When internal scar tissue develops on organs like the pancreas, the body's ability to function becomes limited. Scar tissue on the pancreas may prevent insulin from reaching the blood resulting in diabetes. Some substances like Vitalzym or Protocel dissolve scar tissue like fibrin. This allows the body to resume normal activity and may aide in the cure of diabetes caused from scar tissue. The amount of each substance needed varies depending on the extent of the scar tissue. Most substances, available in pills, work in conjunction with one another.

4. Inject a Salt Solution

Do you feel like topical scar creams don't dissolve your scars? Injecting hypertonic saline neurolysis, a highly concentrated salt solution, into scar tissue helps dissolve the tissue. Before you receive the injections, doctors must separate any nerves from the scar tissue. This requires inserting a catheter into the body and guiding it with an x-ray. Doctors perform the process, called adhesiolysis, most often for scar tissue in the epidural space of the spine. The procedure takes place in an operating room and patients may receive sedatives through an IV as well as topically.

5. Dissolve Scars With Bee Stings

Bee venom contains hyaluronidase, which attacks scar tissue and dissolves it. In bee venom therapy or sclerolysis, a therapist mixes venom with a saline solution or sterile water. The therapist targets sensitive or painful areas of the scar and makes several injections across the surface of the scar. Even people allergic to bees still benefit from the therapy, but the therapist takes precautions to prevent an allergic reaction. Some therapists place live bees on the body to control the bee stings.
