By remaining hydrated, you can expect to lose several pounds of water weight in a matter of days.

Take Diuretics

Taking natural diuretics like citrus fruits, green tea, unsweetened cranberry juice and dandelion root can help you lose water weight because they increase your rate of urination. Conversely, although unnatural, you can also obtain a prescription or use an over-the counter diuretic. Prescription diuretics, known as "water pills," stimulate water weight loss by flushing excess water from your body. Unfortunately, diuretics can create unpleasant side effects, like abdominal pain and diarrhea. You can also expect to lose several pounds of water weight in mere days by taking diuretics.

Limit Sodium Intake

Eating foods that are lower in sodium will help eliminate excessive water weight. A diet that is high in sodium will cause water retention because salt dehydrates your body. Try to keep your daily sodium intake below 1,500 to 2,000mg. To minimize your intake, avoid processed foods and frozen meals, which are often are high in sodium. Avoiding salt and remaining hydrated will quickly propel water loss.

Consume Healthy Foods

A nutritious diet will promote water weight loss. A diet that provides insufficient nutrition can result in unwanted water retention. To ensure healthy dieting, consume foods that are high in protein, potassium and amino acids. Such foods usher large quantities of water into the kidneys, which subsequently make you urinate more frequently. By consuming healthy foods, you can lose excess water weight in days.

Regular Exercise

A consistent exercise routine will enhance your overall health and efforts to lose water weight. Regular exercise produces respiration and transpiration. Respiration and transpiration will make your body lose water weight. You can expect to lose water weight after a single workout.
