Rashes involve an outbreak of bumps, itchiness and redness in any part of your skin, including your face. Facial rashes can be caused by numerous factors, including hairstyling products, cosmetics, soaps, hats and insect bites. If left untreated, facial rashes can cause severe itching, and may lead to the development of bumps and pimples. Fortunately, many facial rashes can be treated with remedies you can apply at home.
Step 1
Apply calamine lotion to your facial rash twice a day or when needed. Calamine can reduce the redness, itchiness and irritation cause by a rash.
Step 2
Apply an ice pack to suppress the itching and swelling. Put 1/2 cup of ice cubes in a clean, dry towel, and place on your face for five minutes at a time and whenever needed. Applying a cold pack will stop the redness and itching by cooling your facial skin.
Step 3
Apply an over-the-counter steroid cream, such as hydrocortisone cream, to help fade away red facial rashes. Hydrocortisone works by repairing the injured blood vessels under the reddened facial skin areas. Follow the instructions that accompany the cream when applying it to your face.
Step 4
Take an over-the-counter antihistamine, such as Benadryl capsules. Take one capsule every four to six hours or as directed until your rash has disappeared. Benadryl blocks the effects of histamine, a chemical your body produces that causes redness and itchiness to occur. This medication will make you drowsy; avoid taking it before or when you drive.
