You might assume that the best weight loss exercises are the ones that burn the most calories, and to a certain extent that's true. Burn 3,500 more calories than you've taken in, and you'll lose a full pound of fat. But even the most calorie-busting exercises won't help if you're not willing to do them. That makes the true best weight loss exercises the ones you're more likely to keep doing consistently: The fun ones.

Doing Aerobics with Videos

"Sweatin' to the Oldies" may be cliché, but it's also a lot of fun. Dig out your stash of aerobics DVDs or VHS tapes. You can also download or stream some aerobics programs from online services. From dance aerobics to strip-tease aerobics and rebounding, an array of aerobics programs are available that can guide you through a rewarding and productive workout. The Harvard Heart Letter rates aerobics as burning anywhere from 205 to 372 calories in just half an hour of effort from a 155-pound individual.

Jumping Rope

A jump rope is cheap, takes up hardly any space, and is fairly simple to use. You may enjoy this exercise for the burst of nostalgia it brings on if you ever jumped rope as a child, or simply because it provides some variety in your workout. Teach yourself rope jumping drills like swinging the rope twice under your feet each time you jump, swinging the rope backward or doing boxer-style crossovers to keep things interesting. According to the Harvard Heart Letter, a 155-pound person burns a whopping 372 calories in 30 minutes of jumping rope.

Dancing

You can burn over 200 calories in just half an hour of dancing, which could be anything from breaking out your disco steps in the privacy of your own home to shimmying in a club to fast-paced partner dancing. Just find music and an environment you like, then break it down. You probably won't even realize when you pass the half-hour mark.
