Allergy shots work by injecting small amounts of the allergen into the body to help desensitize a person to the allergen and reduce the allergic symptoms. Homeopathy uses the same idea of treating "like with like," so it's becoming a popular choice for people seeking relief from pollen and other allergies. A homeopathic practitioner can recommend treatments based on the type of allergy and the patient's particular symptoms.

Allium Cepa

The Peace Health website's guide to homeopathic remedies says allium cepa is one common treatment for allergic symptoms. This remedy may be recommended if a person is suffering from watery eyes, a runny nose, sneezing and a tickling cough. If a person is often thirsty, feels worse in warm, indoor rooms, and feels better in fresh air, allium cepa may be the best homeopathic choice.

Arsenicum Album

If a person's runny nose is combined with swelling below the eyes and a wheezy cough, arsenicum album may be recommended. Peace Health says people who could benefit from this remedy may also feel chilly, anxious and often very tired.

Ferrum Phosphoricum

If allergy symptoms are caught early, a homeopathic practitioner may recommend ferrum phosphoricum. This remedy may slow or stop an allergy episode. Peace Health says it may be prescribed if a person complains of symptoms such as runny eyes with a burning or gritty feeling, facial flushing, watery nose and a short, hard, tickling cough.

Nux Vomica

If your nose feels stuffed up when you're outside and runs when you come inside, nux vomica may be the best remedy. According to Peace Health, people who need this remedy may feel chilly, impatient and irritable. Other symptoms that call for nux vomica are headache, a teasing cough and a tickly feeling in the throat.

Sabadilla

If sneezing is a big problem, Peace Health says sabadilla may be the answer. This remedy is recommended for people who feel like they have a lump in their throat along with watery eyes and an itchy, runny nose. People who could benefit from sabadilla may feel nervous during their allergy attacks, and they may get sleepy or develop a headache when trying to concentrate on something.

Wyethia

If your head feels dry and irritated but your nose is still running, wyethia may be recommended. According to Peace Health, this remedy may be best if the allergy sufferer also experiences a horrible itching sensation in the mouth, throat and ears.
