The tendency to frown a lot can cause wrinkles to develop, according to "The Doctors Book of Home Remedies," compiled by Prevention Magazine. The frown lines can extend downward from your mouth and also commonly appear around the brows. These lines become more pronounced as you age. If you are unable to prevent frown lines from forming, speak to your doctor about remedies, which could include cosmetic surgery or Botox injections.

Step 1

Apply a moisturizer with glycolic acid each morning. The glycolic acid helps your skin shed dead cells to keep your face looking fresh, according to "The Doctors Book of Home Remedies." Select versions with an eight to 10 concentration of glycolic acid. Wait for the moisturizer to dry before applying any other skin-care products.

Step 2

Slather your face with sunscreen. Sun damage can speed up the aging process and lead to premature wrinkling. Use a version with SPF 15 or higher. If you plan to be in the sun for prolonged periods, reapply the sunscreen every two hours.

Step 3

Protect your face from sun exposure by wearing a wide-brimmed hat when you're outside.

Step 4

Stop smoking. Smoking weakens the skin's blood supply and can lead to premature wrinkles, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Step 5

Reduce stress to make your face appear more relaxed. Some stress-busting activities include yoga, meditation and exercise.

Step 6

Aim for at least seven hours of sleep each night. Adequate sleep can encourage collagen and elastin production to prevent frown lines from appearing.

Things You'll Need
