An ollie is a skateboard or snowboard trick that involves jumping into the air and landing. It is a fairly simple trick that can be done on skis as well. Execution on skis is very similar to on skateboard or a snowboard, but a bit different in how you angle yourself and maneuver your equipment. Knowing the proper technique for performing an ollie in snow skis can help you in your quest to master the trick.
Instructions
Step 1
Ski straight down the hill in a straight line. Keep your knees bent, crouch and ensure your weight is evenly distributed between your feet.
Step 2
Lean forward a bit so that your weight is focused towards the tips of the skis.
Step 3
Shift your weight to the back of the skis quickly, then bend your knees to the point that you are almost in a sitting position. This flexing motion should help spring you into the air.
Step 4
Pop your body into the air using the rear of your skis and your legs. You can also use your arms to help power you through the air.
Step 5
Point the tips of your skis towards the bottom of the mountain while you are in the air and distribute the weight evenly against your skis. When you land, bend your knees to cushion the landing. Always keep your skis straight when landing to prevent yourself from getting caught on your own skis.
