If you enjoy riding your bicycle throughout the year, you probably don't like it when winter rolls in, making too cold to ride outside. You can combat the cold by converting your bike into an exercise bike, one that you can use right in your home. Converting your bike into a stationary bike can save you hundreds of dollars that you might spend on an exercise bike.

Instructions

Step 1

Determine where you want to put your stationary bike in your home. Ensure that wherever you put it, there will be plenty of room around it when you use it.

Step 2

Put the pieces of the bike stand in the positions where you want the bike to sit. This will help you build the stationary bike much quicker.

Step 3

Assemble the rear of the bicycle on the stand. Clamp the rear wheel as tight as possible. The wheel will still wiggle a bit until you secure the front wheel.

Step 4

Secure the front wheel on the front part of the stand. Tighten it as much as you can.

Step 5

Tighten the rear wheel again. Make sure it does not move at all, but do not make it too tight so that it rubs against the bicycle's bearings.

Step 6

Examine the bike to determine if it is evenly mounted. If one end of the bicycle is higher or lower than the other end, reposition the bike.

Step 7

Push the bike back and forth from its side, ensuring that it is stable enough not to fall over. When you are on a stationary bike at high revolutions, the bike sometimes wiggles. Make sure it will not fall over with a large amount of weight on it.
