Ovulation is when a woman is most capable to getting pregnant.Ovulation is the process of an ovary releasing an egg. Ovulation happens around the fourteenth day of the menstrual period, however, this can vary. Some women experience ovulation like clockwork, while others do not ovulate on such a regular schedule. Knowing the signs of ovulation can help some couples who are trying to get pregnant.
Vaginal Discharge
During ovulation, some women notice a clear slippery vaginal discharge. This discharge is described as resembling egg whites. This is cervical fluid. Every woman may have their own type of cervical fluid, therefore each woman needs to monitor this closely if they would like to know when they are ovulating. During ovulation, the cervical secretions are the most for the whole menstrual cycle. After ovulation, the discharge becomes cloudy, sticky or goes away entirely.
Body Temperature
The basal body temperature can be measured with a special thermometer. If a woman plots her morning temperatures daily, a slight increase happens during ovulation. During the two to three days prior to this increase, there is a slight decline. The Mayo clinic reports that they are most fertile during the basal temperature elevation. A woman should track their temperature several months to see their own trend for basal temperature and ovulation. This method requires commitment and dedication, however, can be a tool in determining ovulation.
Cervical Changes
Some women may be able to determine changes in the way their cervix feels during ovulation. The American Pregnancy Association reports that during ovulation a woman's cervix is soft, high, open and wet. Feeling her cervix may be another way a woman can determine whether or not she is ovulating. It may be difficult for some women to notice these changes in her body, however with practice, time and observation, it is possible.

The American Pregnancy Association reports the following are secondary signs for some women when they are ovulating: light spotting, cramping or pain on one side of the pelvis, tenderness in the breasts, bloating of the abdomen, increase in sex drive, heightened senses of smell, taste or vision. Each woman my experience ovulation differently, so it is important that they monitor their symptoms month after month.
