3 Ways to Transition to Dr. Oz's You on a Diet

1. Learn the Foods to Avoid

Dr. Oz's "You on a Diet" is a diet approach focusing on healthy foods. Transitioning to this diet may be difficult for some. Giving up foods that you have eaten all your life can be challenging. Learn the foods you need to avoid, such as hydrogenated oils, sugars, high fructose corn syrup, enriched flour and bleached flour. These are ingredients that we find in many of the processed foods we eat on a regular basis. Learn to read the label on the foods you eat and to avoid any food that may contain these items.

2. Clean You Cupboards

Go through the foods that you already have. Examine the ingredient labels of the foods in your cupboard and look for the ingredients that you need to avoid. You may be surprised how much of it you find in your own home. Dispose of this food. Much of it will be processed foods. You are looking for the amount of saturated fat in each serving, as well as in the food as a whole. Get rid of any food item that has more than 4 g of saturated fat per serving. Getting rid of the bad food from your home removes the temptation and assists you in your transition to Dr. Oz's You on a Diet.

3. Learn to Shop Healthy

When it is time to restock your kitchen, head to the produce isle of your supermarket, which is the best place to find foods that do not have the ingredients to avoid, such as fresh fruits and vegetables. Stock up on carrots and apples for those cravings. They are good to crunch on and fill the sweet void. Whole grains, such as long cooking or steel cut oatmeal, is another food that you can stock up on. It is great for breakfast and to use while baking. When shopping for meat, pass on the red meat and pork, and shop for lean meats, such as poultry and sea food. Learning to shop for healthy foods is sometimes the hardest part of the diet. Avoid isles that contain bad food to make the transition easier.
