The DASH diet includes eight to 10 servings of fruits a day, along with low-fat or nonfat dairy products, beans, nuts and whole grains. Animal proteins like beef and chicken are limited to 6 oz. a day on the DASH diet, and adding salt to foods is not allowed. This diet has been found to reduce blood pressure levels.
Dietary Supplements
Another way to reduce high blood pressure naturally is to take vitamin and mineral dietary supplements. Vitamins and minerals are found in healthy foods, but sometimes the right amount cannot be obtained from foods alone. Dr. Weil recommends taking the supplements magnesium and calcium each day. He also recommends taking the antioxidant vitamin C, which can reduce hypertension in those with mild or moderate high blood pressure. Finally, taking garlic tablets can open up the vascular system so that blood flows easier and pressure is reduced.

According to the Mayo Clinic, exercising more often can reduce blood pressure levels in two different ways. First, exercise burns calories and helps you keep your weight in check. Another benefit of physical activity, according to the Mayo Clinic, is that it pumps blood quickly through your veins, improving blood pressure. People with high blood pressure should aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity, like walking, jogging, swimming or cycling, every day.
Relax
Stress is a main contributor to high blood pressure, according to the Mayo Clinic. People who lead busy, high-stress lives are more likely to have high blood pressure than those who live calm lives. Therefore, the Mayo Clinic recommends deep breathing, stretching exercises and other natural activities to reduce stress. Yoga and meditation can also help to relieve stress and thereby reduce blood pressure levels.
